BIG SPARK GOES GLOBAL WITH WORLD PROPERTY TITLE
Big Spark Publishing is to go global in a unique partnership with Global Referral Systems (GRS), part of the Global Realty Services Group, to produce a new and innovative luxury worldwide homes and lifestyle title, ‘New Home Worldwide Portfolio’. The sumptuous 164-page book-magazine focuses on new home properties around the globe and will be distributed worldwide. It will contain regular features on luxury living abroad, guides to buying the best property on all continents, celebrity lifestyle, finance and investment, high end motoring, fashion and food plus the experiences of people who have successfully made their home abroad. It is being produced in conjunction with Coldwell Banker’s Irish real estate franchisor who will be the first realtors to benefit from this ‘white label’, high-quality book-mag. ‘New Home Worldwide Portfolio’ will be produced with a specific distribution for Coldwell Banker’s realtors under their global branding.
Single page realtor property ads in ‘New Home Worldwide Portfolio’ will be pre-sold with a worldwide e-mail campaign supported by SMS and fax message marketing, and will be priced at US$730 per page. The book-mag will have 110 pages of high value and quality-spec new property ads with over 50 pages of high-end lifestyle features supported by quality advertising. New Home Worldwide will be available via selected news-stands with a cover price of £6.50 (US$9.95, €7.95) and as a free pick-up in over 190 European 5-star hotels, 135 UK 5-star hotels, spas, private clinics, health clubs and first class airport lounges. Copies for Coldwell Banker’s offices in the US will be printed at RR Donnelley’s in New York and the Pacific edition will be printed and distributed by SMD Print in Sydney with the Coldwell Banker offices able to purchase individual copies of ‘New Home Worldwide Portfolio’ for their clients from the NHW website. Stuart Parker, managing director of Big Spark Publishing, said: “We have been working with Richard Combellack of GRS for over six months on this project. Simply developing the website ‘back office’ has taken three months of work by technicians from the Global Realty Service Group. GRS will manage the web and email systems and we at Big Spark will handle the publishing element.
“We believe our proposition offering listed new property developers a high quality global publication in which to advertise at an extremely competitive page rate will be a success. “This publishing offer will be available across the globe. All property pages will be booked and paid for online and the front-end advertising in the lifestyle pages section will be sold by our team. The sophistication built into the web property page booking software will enable us to see who’s online at any time, check their progress through the site and see which page they are visiting in the buying cycle.” Richard Combellack, head of marketing at GRS, said: “We have worked with Big Spark on a number of occasions and have been impressed with their professionalism and their design and delivery skills. “We at GRS operate the world’s leading property web-based referral system and feel both our companies’ skill sets married together will produce a great end result.” Wayne Vandenburgh, of Coldwell Banker’s Ireland, Netherlands and Italy division, delivered his verdict: “It looks great. Very competitively priced and very impressive - I think we have something here.”

Big Spark ties up sports title deal
Tuesday August 19 2008
Big Spark Publishing is to handle the page production for the irreverent sports title Golf Punk. The title is owned by JF Media, which recently launched a sister publication, Football Punk. Although Big Spark did not work on the launch issue of this new project, it is expected that the production agreement will include all Punk titles going forward. Big Spark will now be tasked with gathering the editorial and images from the magazine’s Sussex base via its FTP site, before flowing the content in according to Golf Punk’s design template. Big Spark managing director Stuart Parker commented: “Golf Punk's enquiry was the fifth one we have had in as many weeks. "This type of work is great for our production and design team and illustrates that in today's climate it makes sense for publishers to outsource and cherry pick our services thus making a saving on costs.”
Former Daily Sport editor joins up
Big Spark publishing has completed the high profile signing of former Daily Sport editor Dave Beevers. Dave was with the Sport for 16 years, spending the last eight in the position of editor, but left the publication in February as part of the on-going shake-up at the Sport Media Group’s titles. He joins Big Spark in the role of head of editorial, charged with strengthening the current team both on and off line. Big Spark managing director Stuart Parker said: “We are very pleased to have secured Dave. He came highly recommended and his experience will add that extra edge to our growing list of titles.” In another recruitment move at Big Spark, Andy Forster has been signed up from Newsquest as the firm’s new key account manager.
Big Spark expands airport magazines portfolio
Big Spark Publishing has added Stansted and Glasgow Prestwick to its growing list of high quality glossy airport passenger magazines. Big Spark already publishes magazines for BAA’s properties at Glasgow and Edinburgh and Ferovial’s Belfast City. Big Spark are also in advanced discussions with BAA to include Aberdeen. Glasgow Prestwick’s inaugural magazine - called Flight - took off in July. Stansted is to follow in October. Big Spark has also just concluded a new wider-ranging arrangement with BAA contractor Green Bug Media to strengthen the airside and landside availability of the titles and the management of the distribution. Big Spark managing director Stuart Parker said: “We are really chuffed to add these new opportunities to our growing airport basket of titles.”
The UK’s first FREE Green lifestyle title
Big Spark has teamed up with London-based celebrity artist management company Knight Ayton to launch eco-you, a magazine that will focus on the growing interest in green issues and sustainable living. GMTV Green Week presenter Joanna Yarrow, who has also appeared on BBC3’s Outrageous Wasters and who is author of several books including 1001 Ways You Can Save The Planet and How to Reduce Your Carbon Footprint will be the magazine’s first editor. The 52 page saddle-stitched A4 magazine will be printed on recycled paper and initially published quarterly. The print run is 100,000 copies which will be distributed free of charge at over 300 Tesco and Sainsbury's stores. The target audience is women of all ages with busy lifestyles and issues on their mind from child care to balancing the family budget, keeping healthy and looking good. There won’t be a “sniff of worthiness”, says Joanna, and that the title “will be served up with wit, flair and some glamour”.
